My Moomin: A Journey to Moominvalley

Graphic design for the documentary "My Moomin: A Journey to Moominvalley," which follows the production of the new Moominvalley Stories animated series, where the 90s drawn animations are being transformed into 3D format. The documentary is produced by Gutsy Media.

The idea for the graphics was inspired by Tove Jansson's letters and handwriting. At the beginning of the project, I aimed to design graphics that convey Tove Jansson's presence in the documentary to the viewers. I studied Jansson's designed and published works as well as her written letters, which inspired me to incorporate her handwriting into the graphics. Each graphic was meticulously crafted to convey Jansson's profound storytelling skills, reflecting the personality and unique style of her letters. My goal in the design process was to create graphics that convey a message from Tove Jansson and her presence to future generations.

The documentary is available for viewing on Yle Areena  and contains multiple graphics.

kentänlaidalla (2022)

The task was to design graphics for the television series "Kentän Laidalla". This included title sequences as well as graphics appearing within the series, such as fictional website designs. The television series is produced by Långfilm Production.

At the beginning of the project, I observed the themes surrounding the series, aiming to communicate elements related to football through the graphics. I drew inspiration from the text seen on the back of football jerseys, where the player's name is displayed. For the opening graphics, I designed them to resemble the typography found on player jerseys, creating a sort of "player emblem" for the series. The closing graphics were made bold and powerful to encapsulate the athleticism of football, alongside clarity and easy readability.

The television series is available for viewing on Yle Areena and contains multiple graphics.

NOTE: The football team emblem (yellow Aura United) shown in the image is not created by Olivia Leino.
